Where poetry and music come together.

Liyana Yusof is a gifted poet who has been writing and reading poetry for the past few years. Alia is a multi-talented musician, currently playing keyboards for local post-rock outfit Furniture. Together they are Dizzy & The -- a strange yet fresh mixture of poetry and music rarely found in the local scene.
It works pretty simple really. As the typically verbose poet (in normal conversations, that is) chants out her prose, her partner in the background experiments with fuzzy soundscapes, often a fusion of synth mutations and beats. The yin of sound meets the yang of poetry.
The result? Well, as Liyana puts it herself: "It's poetry with layered score. How one friend interprets another friend's poetry musically."
The equally loquacious Alia has this to say: "It’s symbiotic poetry and music, both intimate, yet emotive.”
Dizzy & The has been seen performing at various shows, be it the regular indie gigs where colourfully-dressed adolescents mingle obtrusively loud, or the poetry readings where the literary folks enjoy their quiet bohemian soirées. There are really no signs that these two young girls with thick glasses would ever stop doing what they're doing now. “This is my favourite collaboration ever,” said Liyana.
